Ambassador of Armenia to Serbia Ashot Hovakimian held a series of meetings in the newly elected National Assembly of Serbia, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the embassy of Armenia in the Czech Republic.

The Ambassador was received by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, the Head of the Serbian Delegation to the OSCE PA, Sandra Bozic, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, the Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, Elvira Kovacs, a member of the Serbian Delegation to the PACE, and the Head of the Serbian Delegation to the PACE, Biljana Pantic Pilja.

The Ambassador presented in detail the consequences of Azerbaijan's recent military aggression against Armenia, emphasized the need for the immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the sovereign territory of Armenia and the returning of Armenian prisoners of war.

The urgency of intensifying cooperation between the Armenian and Serbian Parliaments, including the friendship groups, the committees and delegations in international parliamentary organizations, was discussed, the information exchange was highlighted.

At the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hovakimian had meetings with Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation Vladimir Maric, Director of the Department for Russia and Eurasia Vladimir Jovicic, and Director of the Diplomatic Academy Marina Jovicevic.

The ambassador met also with the representatives of the Armenian community of Serbia, and visited a number of cultural institutions.
