TourStat presented a rating of the most popular and attractive CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries for winter tourism and rest.

Rating CIS countries is based on the popularity among tourists and infrastructure development for tourism and recreation in the CIS countries.

According to TurStat, the top five CIS countries for winter holidays for tourists are Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Armenia. In Armenia, the capital Yerevan and Tsakhkadzor ski resort attract tourists in winter.

In Kazakhstan, tourists flock to the capital Astana and the city of Almaty, the Shymbulak resort in the Almaty mountains, as well as the Burabay resort.

In Uzbekistan, tourists visit the capital Tashkent and the Silk Road cities of Bukhara and Samarkand, as well as the Chimgan ski resort.

In Kyrgyzstan, winter tourists are attracted to the capital Bishkek and the ski resort of Karakol, as well as Lake Issyk-Kul.
