The individuals who organized the riots in Iran were trained in eight countries unfriendly to Tehran, the head of the Interior Ministry of the Islamic Republic Ahmad Vahidi stated at the meeting of Shiite and Sunni imams of Friday prayers of Golestan Province, located in the north of the country, reports Fars.

"The individuals in the thick of the recent unrest belonged to different groups. Some of them were trained in eight countries unfriendly to Iran," Vahidi was quoted by the agency as saying.

According to the minister, some young people joined the riots under the influence of the Internet and social media, the countries hostile to Iran to achieve their goals sought to make the riots an ethnic conflict.

"The enemy has made every effort. Everyone from the Mojahedin Organization of the Iranian People to the Sunni Qomala (Communist Party Organization of Iranian Kurdistan) were involved in the recent unrest in order to defeat Iran with maximum pressure. But they themselves announced that they had lost," Vahidi added.
