YEREVAN. – Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan on Tuesday received a delegation led by Iranian Ambassador Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Vardapetyan lauded the current cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, and assured that it will expand and acquire a new quality based on effective work on both sides.

The Iranian diplomat, in turn, emphasized that the strong 3,000-year-old historical and cultural ties between Iran and Armenia are a good basis for the development of relations in all domains, and that this has been especially evident in the last two years. In this context, Ambassador Zohouri stressed that relations with neighboring Armenia are a priority to Iran.

And in response to Vardapetyan's high assessment of the recent opening of the consulate general of Iran in Syunik Province of Armenia, Zohouri reaffirmed the importance of Syunik for Iran, and emphasized that no country should have any aspirations towards this province.

Also during the meeting, the Prosecutor General of Armenia and the ambassador of Iran to Armenia addressed a number of matters of mutual interest.
