The annual joint tactical military exercise Bull Run-19 with NATO has started in Poland, the Polish Radio 5 reported.

The maneuvers will take place in the province of Warmia and Mazury, located on the border with the Russian Kaliningrad region, and the province of Podlasie, bordering Belarus.

Soldiers from the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade and the North Atlantic Alliance Battalion Combat Team stationed in Poland will participate in the events, which will take place from November 22-24.

The soldiers will test communications systems and familiarize themselves with the terrain and roads. The exercises are designed to test how, in a threat situation, reinforced allied forces work together to provide security and deter an aggressor, Lt. Col. Piotr Półbratek, the brigade's acting chief of staff, said.

The purpose of the maneuvers is declared to be to increase the effectiveness of the Polish and allied forces in these territories. Active movement of columns of military equipment to the designated areas is expected.
