Doctor and head of the non-governmental organization "Empathy" Mariam Jishkariani stated that the analysis conducted on the former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili revealed the presence of three heavy metals in his body. In her opinion, this could indicate that the former Georgian leader may have been poisoned.

Jishkariani said it was very likely that Saakashvili was intoxicated. The doctor indicated that she and the foreign colleagues who conducted the examination are awaiting "further confirmation of this."

"He was tortured, inhumanly treated, and there may have been an attempt to poison him ... Three heavy metals were detected in his hair," the expert explained.

The doctor also called on Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to pardon the politician and thus "save his life."

In turn, Saakashvili's lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze told journalists that if the intoxication is eventually confirmed, the human rights activists and family members of the former president will have to appeal to the diplomatic corps to respond to this.
