Specialists in Peru have found almost 14,000 dead wild birds, including 10,000 pelicans, on the country's beaches in recent weeks. This is reported by TASS with reference to the national service for the protection of forests and wildlife.

The cause of deaths was bird flu.

The latest official report, which was prepared by the service based on data from around the country, reports 13,869 wild seabirds that died from the H5N1 bird flu, the experts said.

10,257 dead pelicans were found within and outside protected areas, as well as 2,919 dead Peruvian boobies and 614 blue-footed boobies.
