YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Lodz, Poland to participate in the 29th OSCE Ministerial Council, on Thursday had a meeting with Helga Schmid, the OSCE Secretary General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Minister Mirzoyan briefed his interlocutor on the fragile security situation in the region, pointing out that Azerbaijan's continuous aggressions and warmongering rhetoric grossly violate the fundamental provisions of international humanitarian law, the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.

Mirzoyan emphasized the readiness of the Armenian side to promote the peace agenda, noting that the major obstacle to establishing security in the region is Azerbaijan's maximalist position and its aspirations to solve issues through the use of force or the threat of use of force.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented to his counterpart the approaches of the Armenian side concerning the normalization of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The sides touched upon the activity of the OSCE Needs Assessment Mission.

Cooperation programs with Armenia within the framework of the OSCE were also on the agenda of the meeting.
