The price of gold is rising Monday morning, consolidating above $1,820 per troy ounce, trading data shows. A weakening dollar amid expectations for China's economy is supporting the precious metal's value.

The price of February gold futures on the New York Comex Exchange rose by $12.25, or 0.68%, to $1,821.85 a troy ounce. March silver futures were up 1.08% to $23.5 an ounce.
