In Germany, veterinarians managed to cure a domestic pig named Eberhard from alcoholism. The animal lived in a dirty apartment and ate only chips and alcoholic beverages. When specialists took Eberhard away from his owners, he was taken to a shelter in the municipality of Lippetal.

There, veterinarians weaned the piglet from alcohol and restored his health. Eberhard's new owner, Bianca Deichmann, said that after two years at the shelter, the piglet has fully recovered.

The law allows Germans to keep pygmy domestic pigs in their homes. However, each piglet must be officially registered with the local veterinary office.

Earlier it was reported that baboons in the Western Cape (South Africa) broke into a luxury apartment rented by vacationers, ate a breakfast avocado and drank all the cognac.
