The European Union is considering imposing restrictions on the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector as part of the ninth package of sanctions against Russia, Bloomberg reported.

According to its sources, a proposal for new restrictions may be formally presented and discussed this week. The EU plans to agree on a sanctions package before leaders meet next week.

Earlier, the Politico newspaper citing diplomats informed that the European Commission and EU representatives at the weekend discussed the preparation of a ninth package of sanctions against Moscow. It is proposed to make 180 new items on the sanctions lists. According to the newspaper, measures in relation to the sphere of technology, finance and media are also being discussed.

The European Union has already imposed eight sanctions packages against Russia since February, when Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine. The latest package of sanctions was approved in early October.
