Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov promised at a joint press conference in Moscow following a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that "Azerbaijan guarantees Armenians living in Karabakh the same rights as other citizens.

"Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that it guarantees that the population of Armenian origin living in the Karabakh region will have the same rights and freedoms as all citizens of Azerbaijan," he stressed.

The statement, at first glance seemingly peaceful, in reality reflects the true attitude and policy of Armenophobia of the Azerbaijani authorities. As the legislation of a secular country, member of the Council of Europe, supposes equality of all before the law, ranting about "guarantees Armenians living in Karabakh the same rights as those enjoyed by other citizens" sounds strange at the very least. Equal rights are something that goes without saying, not some great favor. However, the fact that the Azerbaijani authorities speak of equal rights as the greatest favor speaks of a true attitude.
