The National Assembly on Wednesday elected former chairman of the Investigative Committee, Hayk Grigoryan, as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Armenia

A total of 75 MPs voted for his respective candidacy, and no lawmaker voted against it.

Grigoryan thanked for the trust and swore to fulfill his duties as an SJC member in accordance with the constitution and laws of Armenia.

He was elected to this post to replace Grigor Bekmezyan, now a former member of the SJC, who had step down in this capacity on October 10 and stated that the oath of an SJC member would not allow him to speak freely about the existing problems, and therefore he had decided to do all this outside the Supreme Judicial Council.
