The US embassy in Armenia on Wednesday issued a statement on the 34th anniversary of the powerful earthquake that hit Armenia.  

“Every December 7 we join Armenians all over the world to remember the victims of the devastating 1988 earthquake. We also honor the courage of the people of Gyumri, Vanadzor and other affected places for their strength and resiliency to overcome the disaster,” reads the US embassy statement on Facebook.

The earthquake that hit Armenia 34 years ago today at 11:41am killed 25,000 people and left more than half a million homeless.
