YEREVAN. – Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan on Tuesday received Christine Weigand, UN Resident Coordinator ad interim and UNICEF Representative to Armenia, the government of Armenia informs.

The deputy PM lauded the role of UNICEF in overcoming the problems related to the protection of children's rights, and improvement of their health and living conditions in Armenia.

Reflecting on the 2021-2025 Action Plan of UNICEF in Armenia, Matevosyan particularly emphasized the inclusion of a humanitarian response within the framework of a number of actions, and aimed at addressing the needs of children displaced by the large-scale military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and living in conflict-affected communities.

Weigand, for her part, expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of cooperation with Armenia’s public administration agencies, expressing confidence in the continuation of cooperation in accordance with bilateral priorities and goals.

The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of expanding this cooperation, too.
