The US defense budget is confrontational and unprecedented and is aimed at long-term destabilization on the European continent, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, RIA Novosti reported.

"The adopted document is extremely confrontational in relation to our country, unprecedentedly confrontational in nature, which, of course, unfortunately, is fraught with quite serious and long-lasting consequences in its prospects for the further destabilization of the situation on the European continent," Peskov told reporters.

The defense budget of the U.S. for 2023, agreed by both houses of Congress, provides for allocating an additional $800 million for Ukraine next year and over $6 billion for deterring Russia in Europe, working out a "comprehensive strategy" for combating hypersonic weapons and establishing a permanent ban on data exchange with Russia on missile defense systems.
