There were 40 cases of mass shootings in the US since the beginning of 2023, said American research organization Gun Violence Archive in Twitter.

The incidents occurred in 18 different states. These are the highest numbers since 2014, the organization claims.

For example, three people were killed in a shooting in Yakima, Washington, on January 24 and 11 people were killed in Monterey, California, on January 22.

According to Gun Violence Archive, 43,600 people were killed in shooting incidents in the United States last year, including 1,600 children.

The Gun Violence Archive was founded in 2013. It publishes daily statistics on gun violence incidents.
