France may agree to Kyiv's demands for the supply of fighter jets, the chairman of the French defense committee, Thomas Gassilloud, has said, Telegraph reported.

He noted that Paris has conditions on the issue, but did not rule out that France would send planes to Kyiv as another reinforcement of Western support for Ukraine.

Asked by the Standard if France could supply aircraft, Mr Gassilloud said: “Regarding deliveries to Ukraine, we must study requests on a case by case basis and leave all the doors open.

“So we will see in the coming weeks what happens next as things are moving fast.”

The conditions are that any donations of planes do not undermine the security of France or Europe and are good for Ukraine.

The French government may offer some of its older generation aircraft -- most likely the Dassault Mirages -- but Paris is aware of the difficulty in training both Ukrainian pilots and the 10 support staff needed for the aircraft.

The last condition is that President Emmanuel Macron does not see the supply of fighter jets as a risk of escalating the war in Ukraine into a war between Russia and NATO.
