The attacker on the Azerbaijani Embassy building in Tehran was detained by police immediately after the incident, Mehr reports quoting Brigadier General Rahimi, the police chief of the Iranian capital.

"This man entered the Azerbaijani embassy this morning with a firearm. As a result of the attack, one person was killed and two were wounded," Rahimi said. "Thanks to the fast action of the police, the attacker was immediately arrested and a criminal case was opened against him."

He said the attacker entered the embassy with his two young children. "According to preliminary reports, the attacker was motivated by personal and family problems.
