Serviceman A. A., who sustained a gunshot wound Sunday, was taken to the Central Military Hospital  in Yerevan, where he underwent an operation. Aram Torosyan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, told Armenian News-NEWS.am about this.

"[His] condition continues to be assessed as critical. He is under the supervision of doctors," Torosyan added.

According to the Investigative Committee, On Sunday at 5pm, a report was received from the Kapan city department of Military Police that at around 3pm, the assistant commander of the combat position of a military unit, according to preliminary data, had fired one shot while discharging the assault rifle registered under the name of Private A. A., another mandatory conscript soldier serving in the same combat position, as a result of which A. A. had sustained a gunshot wound in the head and was taken to a medical facility.

Criminal proceedings have been launched into this incident.

The assistant commander of the aforesaid combat position has been detained.
