Russia intends to advance the work of the "3+3" (Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, as well as Russia, Iran, and Turkey) Consultative Regional Platform launched in December 2021 in the South Caucasus. This is noted in the answers—published today—of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to the questions of the mass media, which were received at the press conference on the results of the Russian diplomacy last year.

"We consider that platform, where it is planned to focus on practical issues of strengthening cooperation for the benefit of regional players, useful and timely," the statement of the Russian MFA notes..

To the question of whether the Russian side participates in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, which has now become active again, the Russian MFA responded that it was under the auspices of Russia that this initiative was launched in January 2022 when the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kilic, met for the first time in Moscow.

"We are in close contact with both of them today. We welcome the latest developments, which open prospects for the restoration of Armenian-Turkish relations, which will contribute to the further improvement of the regional situation," the Russian MFA added in its statement.
