A Vietnamese Air Force (VAF) Su-22 crashed while landing at the airport in Yen Bai province, VnExpress reported.

At 12:27 a.m. the Su-22 crashed while landing, the pilot was ordered to jump with a parachute, but he tried to save the plane. The Su-22 crashed and the pilot was killed, the report said.

The Vietnamese Defense Ministry instructed the Air Force and Air Defense to eliminate the consequences and determine the causes of the crash.

Some quantity of Su-22 fighters was inherited by the Soviet Union from Vietnam in 1979. The model aircraft was the first in the Air Force of Vietnam to go on patrol.
