Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: On January 26, the Russian MFA had reacted to the decision to deploy a new EU monitoring mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, stating that the EU mission could lead to a geopolitical confrontation.

Although this statement received a strong reaction from the Armenian public and expert circles and was discussed a lot, the highest authorities of Armenia are not in a hurry to react to this statement of Russia.

On January 27, Zhoghovurd daily had petitioned with a written request to the MFA of Armenia to get any response regarding this statement from the Russian side. To our inquiry, the RA MFA gave an evasive response in which it is said: "In response to your inquiry, we inform that the Armenian side has already publicly presented its position regarding the EU monitoring mission."

(…). This silence of the RA authorities, who regularly make sharp anti-Russian statements from high podiums, is at least strange and incomprehensible.
