The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced new sanctions against Russia. A total of 10 individuals and 12 companies fell under the new U.S. restrictions.

It is reported that the sanctions are being imposed under an executive order signed by the U.S. administration in April 2021.

“Russia’s desperate attempts to utilize proxies to circumvent U.S. sanctions demonstrate that sanctions have made it much harder and costlier for Russia’s military-industrial complex to resupply Putin’s war machine,” Treasury’s Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo said in a Wednesday statement.

According to the U.S. Treasury Department document, the sanctions are imposed on individuals who are citizens of Russia, Singapore, Cyprus, Latvia, Israel and Uzbekistan and companies from Bulgaria, Latvia, Singapore, Israel and Cyprus.

According to the Treasury Department, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on more than 100 individuals and entities engaged in activities to circumvent international sanctions and export controls imposed on Russia in the past year.
