Garo Paylan, the Armenian member of the Turkish parliament, sent an inquiry to the minister of internal affairs of Turkey regarding the news that has been spreading in recent days that there are threats of terrorism against the leaders of national minorities and religious organizations in Turkey.

According to Bianet, Paylan asked the interior minister whether the information that there is a threat of attacks against the national minorities in Turkey is true.

Also, he asked what steps are being taken to prevent possible terrorist attacks against national minorities in Turkey, and how to dispel the respective concerns of the country’s national minorities.

After the Quran—the central religious text of Islam—was burned in front of the Turkish embassy in Sweden, there were rumors that ISIS terrorists had entered Turkey and planned terror attacks against the consulates of European countries and the national minorities, as well as near non-Muslim religious organizations in Turkey.

The consulate generals of Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK in Istanbul have temporarily closed amid these threats.
