The U.S. intends to deepen its cooperation with Azerbaijan, Laura Lohman, adviser to the U.S. Undersecretary of State for Energy Diplomacy, said speaking at the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku, AZERTAG reports,

She noted that President Joseph Biden supports the export of gas from the Caspian Sea to Europe. The U.S. has supported and will continue to support the Southern Gas Corridor project to ensure the energy security of its European partners. The Southern Gas Corridor is a very important project for Europe, and Azerbaijan has a leading role in ensuring the continent's energy security, she said. However, the Southern Gas Corridor plays an important role in enhancing not only European energy security, but also political security. According to her, the project creates opportunities for cooperation of many countries, the use of which provides economic growth. The U.S. will continue to support transportation of natural gas produced in the Caspian Sea to Europe and assist Azerbaijan, Laura Lohman emphasized. Laura Lohman also noted that, taking into account the environmental problems in the world, the U.S. could invest in the production and export of green energy in Azerbaijan.
