The European Union has warned Georgia to be vigilant against circumventing sanctions against Russia and called for the support of aviation sanctions, Novosti-Georgia reports.

Peter Stano, spokesman for the European Commission's external relations service, said this, commenting on discussions about the possibility of restoring direct air links between Georgia and Russia.

The EU sanctions regime is considering imposing sanctions against those who participate in or support possible circumvention of the EU sanctions against Russia

Earlier, the U.S. State Department said that the resumption of flights between Georgia and Russia would threaten sanctions against companies that serve Russian companies at Georgian airports.
