There was an explosion in Turkey’s southernmost Hatay Province, which was also affected by the earthquake, and a fire started, the IHA agency reported.

The head of Topbogaz village informed that after the devastating earthquake, the explosion occurred in two different sections of a natural gas pipeline, between which there is a distance of about three kilometers.

The fire at this natural gas pipeline is not extinguished yet.

Botas, the state-owned crude oil and natural gas pipelines and trading company of Turkey, had announced earlier that the devastating earthquake did not damage the work of oil pipelines, but as a precautionary measure, it was decided to stop natural gas supply in a number of regions—including Hatay—which are located near the epicenter of the quake.
