The terrorist attack at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran led to the deterioration of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, said Aykhan Hajizadeh, head of the press service department of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Azerbaijani media reported.

"We demanded Iran to punish these terrorists. However, Iran has not given any intelligible answer so far," Hajizadeh said.

During the briefing, the Foreign Ministry also showed an interview with Mahir Imanov and Vasif Tagiyev, security officers of the Azerbaijani Embassy who were wounded while preventing a terrorist attack. They stated that "the Iranian police did not act during the attack, and the hospitals refused to admit them. Vasif Tagiyev assured that the Iranian police did not react in any way to his request to assist the Embassy guards, whereas they immediately began assisting the terrorist, who began burning as a result of a failed Molotov cocktail. Tagiyev also pointed out that the terrorist threatened to kill him twice after he was detained and that the Iranian police officers did not interfere with the terrorist in any way.
