The Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria stated in his article that after Brexit, Britain has become an insular nation without any political weight.

According to Zakaria, since Britain's exit from the European Union, the economy has begun to lag behind its competitors in almost every way, from business investment to exports to employment.

"The United Kingdom has become the average island nation, isolated from the European coast, without enough weight to be of independent importance or to set the agenda in its relations with its partners - the EU" the columnist wrote.

He stressed that the British have the feeling that they have been deceived. According to a recent poll, the majority of British residents believe that leaving the EU was a bad idea.
