Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes: The consumer basket in Armenia has become quite expensive on a monthly basis.

Zhoghovurd daily learned that the cost of the minimum consumer basket, at the average current prices of the fourth quarter of last year, was 77 thousand 740 drams on a monthly basis, while at the average current prices of the fourth quarter of 2021, the consumer basket was 71 thousand 570 drams on a monthly basis.

The cost of the food basket was 42 thousand 21 drams on a monthly basis, which was 38 thousand 687 drams in the same period of 2021.

Zhoghovurd daily calculated how much the prices of basic food items are. According to the Statistical Committee, the cost of food consumed per month was only 42 thousand 21 drams per adult. Bread products, meat products, fish products, dairy products, eggs, [vegetable] oil and fat, fruit, vegetables, potatoes, sugar, non-alcoholic beverages, and other food items are included in the list equivalent to this amount.

In parallel with this, let us note that the minimum amount of [monthly] pension in our republic is more than 31 thousand drams, the minimum [monthly] salary is 75 thousand drams; in this case, people cannot get even that minimum amount of food.

It turns out that the cost of the consumer basket exceeds the amount of the minimum wage, but we are silent about utility bills, necessary medicines, clothes, and shoes.
