Finland will join the North Atlantic Alliance without Sweden in case Turkey and Hungary approve its application, IltaLehti newspaper reported citing sources.

Finland and Sweden's joint application to join NATO has already been approved by 28 countries out of 30, except for Turkey and Hungary.

Finland is ready to join NATO without Sweden. Such a situation would arise if Turkey and Hungary ratify Finland's membership in the spring, but one country leaves Sweden's membership in the defense alliance unratified, the report said.

Helsinki has repeatedly emphasized the joint nature of joining the alliance.

The ratification process for Finland and Sweden's joint bid to join NATO was suspended earlier this year due to anti-Muslim protests in Stockholm.
