Rescuers during an operation to search for citizens trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings on the outskirts of the city of Aleppo in northern Syria have found a newborn baby, Al Arabiya TV channel reported on Monday.

According to eyewitnesses, the baby's mother could not be saved.

Earlier, there were reports from Aleppo of a rescued newborn girl and a teenager in the Al-Aqaba neighborhood in the old part of the city. In this provincial center, located 360 km north of Damascus, 47 buildings collapsed during the earthquake.

In total, according to Al Arabiya, the damage to residential neighborhoods as a result of the natural disaster was recorded in 58 settlements in northern Syria.
