At least 20 prisoners suspected of belonging to the IS terrorist organization have escaped from a prison after an earthquake in Syria.

According to the agency, the prisoners were held in a prison near the town of Raju near the Turkish border. A total of about 2,000 prisoners are in the prison, 1,300 of whom may be fighters for the terrorist group.

An earthquake damaged the prison building. Prisoners rioted and took over part of the institution.
