Zilan Tigris, an Armenian female singer living in Diyarbakir (Tigranakert), and her husband also remained under the rubble as a result of the strong earthquake that hit Turkey on Monday. Akunq.net learned about this from a Facebook post of Udi Yervant, another Armenian musician from Diyarbakir.

According to the source, Zilan Tigris and her husband, Cagdas Cankaya, have not yet been removed from the rubble. The center for the study of Western Armenian affairs expresses hope that they will be found safe and sound.

Zilan Tigris was born in 1972 in Diyarbakir, where she received primary, secondary, and higher education. She is of Armenian origin on both her mother's and father's side.

In August 2015, the Armenian singer had participated in the Come Home program of the then Ministry of Diaspora of Armenia, within the framework of which she had visited Armenia together with 85 other Diaspora Armenians.
