Taiwan is speeding up the development and production of drones for military purposes by engaging private companies, Qi Liping, head of the Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST) Aircraft Systems Research Institute, said Tuesday.

"In response to the current threat from the enemy, and using experience from the development and use of drones during the Russia-Ukraine conflict, we will build an asymmetric drone combat capability," said Qi Liping, quoted by Military News Agency.

He added that "Taiwan's Ministry of Defense is accelerating the development and production of various types of drones."
