British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the creation of four new ministries as part of a ministerial reshuffle, including a separate energy security ministry, the British government said in a statement.

To ensure that the entire government is ready to meet the challenges facing the British people, the prime minister, with the approval of His Majesty the King, created four new ministries today, the statement said.

As a result of the reforms, the Department for Energy, Business and Industry will be disbanded and replaced by a separate Department for Energy Security and Climate Neutrality, headed by the current Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Grant Shapps. The current British Foreign Trade Minister, Kemi Badenock, will head the new joint Department for Business and Trade.

In addition, the Ministry of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports will become the Ministry of Culture, Media and Sports, with Lucy Fraser as head. At the same time, Sunak announced the creation of a new department in the government, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology. Michelle Donelan, until now Minister of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, will head it.
