French labor unions began a third wave of nationwide strikes Tuesday against President Emmanuel Macron's plans for pension reform as the bill began to pass through parliament, France 24 reported.

French rail service was canceled, schools closed and supplies to oil refineries suspended as workers in many sectors took to the streets and unions called on the public to take to the streets again en masse.

The French government decided to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64.

Currently, the French retire earlier than any other OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - ed.) citizen.
