Iran on Tuesday unveiled the Nahid-2 and Tolou-3 telecommunications remote sensing satellites developed by local specialists, Tasnim reported.

The satellites were demonstrated at a ceremony in Tehran on the occasion of Iran's National Space Day.

The Nahid-2 telecommunications satellite was built by the Iranian Space Research Center on behalf of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA).

It is reported to have a service life of at least 2 years and will orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometers above the earth's surface in a circular orbit.

Nahid-2 will perform many telecommunication tasks, such as simultaneous telephone communications, and will provide secure data storage and transmission.

The satellite has already successfully passed all tests and is ready for launch.

The Tolou-3 imaging satellite was commissioned by ISA and produced by Iran Electronics Industries.

Its weight is 150 kilograms. It is considered the heaviest satellite produced in Iran, Press TV reported.

Tolou-3 is capable of capturing black-and-white images with a spatial resolution of five meters. It also has a 10-meter resolution in color mode.
