A note demanding an end to interference in Russia's internal affairs was handed to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow on Tuesday, TASS reported, citing a source close to the Russian Foreign Ministry leadership.

"On February 7 this year, an official note was handed to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow with a demand to stop actions incompatible with the status of the diplomatic mission, which constitute interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation," the source said.

"The Russian Foreign Ministry states that despite repeated warnings contained in the note of the Foreign Ministry dated December 9, 2022, the US Embassy continues its malicious activities in the information field allowing inappropriate statements about the leaders of the country of residence and disseminating fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation which is a criminal offense", he stressed.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, "American diplomats were warned against attempts to conduct subversive work, recruiting 'agents of influence' to sow discord and strife in the Russian society and incite anti-state speeches. "Employees involved in this will be expelled, regardless of their positions," he pointed out.

"In this regard, the new US ambassador to Moscow, Lynne Tracy, who was received at the Foreign Ministry on January 30 to present copies of her credentials, was given a tough message about the need to strictly comply with Russian laws and stop activities that run counter to the requirements of the Russian authorities and the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," the source close to the Russian Foreign Ministry added.

"Russia intends to use all available means to neutralize the US embassy fakes, he said. "The Russian side does not intend to put up with the rabid anti-Russian propaganda replicated by the US Embassy's information resources and intends to use all available means to neutralize it," he concluded.
