Tunisian President Kais Saied on Tuesday dismissed Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi, replacing him with former ambassador to the European Union and Belgium Nabil Ammar, Reuters reported.

The presidential administration's statement on the resignation of the country's foreign minister gave no reason for Jerandi's dismissal or Ammar's appointment.

Jerandi was appointed foreign minister in 2020, a position he also held in 2013-14.

Said replaced most government ministers in late 2021 after the closure of parliament, the dismissal of the prime minister and the restructuring of the country's political system, but at that time he kept Jerandi in place.
