Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has canceled a vacation to Norway because of health complaints, the Daily Express reports.

Every winter Margrethe II goes to the Gausdal ski resort in Norway, but this year she decided to interrupt the tradition because of back problems. The 82-year-old Danish queen also missed a private audience at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen - she was replaced by her eldest son Crown Prince Frederik.

Margrethe II became the world's only reigning queen since the death of Elisabeth II, and the longest reigning monarch alive. She ascended the Danish throne in 1972 following the death of her father, King Frederick IX. She was then 31 years old.
