Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday visited the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of Armenia in order to get acquainted with the 2022 activity report of this agency.

It was noted that the number of applications for repatriation in Armenia increased last year, as 8,000 such applications were submitted, an Armenian language course was organized for the first time, and the number of participants reached 240. Integration support packages were provided to Diaspora Armenian families. The establishment of the Repatriation and Integration Center is underway, and is scheduled to open this spring.

The draft Law on Repatriation was developed and circulated, and the 2023-2033 strategy for the development of Armenia-Diaspora cooperation was also developed.

Subsequently, there was an exchange of views on this report.

The PM underscored the programs promoting repatriation, and instructed to start work on the development of the concept of repatriation.

In the context of Armenia-Diaspora cooperation, Pashinyan noted the importance of the institution of commissioners of diaspora affairs in the communities, the introduction of which will promote the reinterpretation of relations.

Also, the Armenian premier drew the attention of the officials in attendance to the process of coordination of charitable initiatives from the Armenian diaspora, and instructed them to be consistent in this matter.
