Armenia sent more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake-stricken Syria, NEWS.am was told by the Rescue Service of the republic.

The humanitarian cargo includes food, medicine and medical equipment.

The cargo was carried by Il-76 aircraft from Yerevan to Aleppo.

The earthquake with magnitude 7.7 occurred in the Turkish province Kahramanmarash in the early morning of February 6 and another one with magnitude 7.6 in the middle of the day. Earthquake shocks have been continuing in Turkey for three days already. The death toll of the earthquake in Turkey has reached 9057, 52,979 people were injured. Armenia has sent a team of rescuers to Turkey.  The earthquake also affected Syria. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of the country, more than 1200 people died.
