The daily increase in new cases of coronavirus in Russia was the highest since mid-October and amounted to more than 12,300 cases, 41 patients with COVID-19 died, according to the data of the operational headquarters released on Thursday.

"There were 12,301 new cases of COVID-19 identified. The number of hospitalizations during the day was 1,389 and decreased by 0.3% compared to the previous day," the operations headquarters said.

According to the data, an increase in the number of hospitalizations was registered in 36 regions of Russia, a decrease was noted in 38 regions of the country. The situation remains unchanged in 11 regions.

Compared with the previous day, when 10,389 people were registered in Russia, the number of new cases of COVID-19 infection increased by 1,912. Thus, the number of new cases of COVID-19 for 24 hours was the highest since October 16, 2022, when over 12.3 thousand cases were reported.

In the past 24 hours, 41 patients died of the coronavirus, compared to 44 reported the day before.

"8,685 people recovered overnight, or 7.2% more than on February 8," the report said.

A total of 22,035,133 cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Russia during the pandemic, with 395,447 deaths and 21,410,128 recoveries.
