YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s press service released a statement, on Tuesday, in which it is noted that Sargsyan “sent a message of condolence to Kim Il-sung, President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, on the passing of Kim Jong-il,” Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.    

Kim Il-sung, to whom the letter of condolence is addressed, is the father of Kim Jong-il, that is, he is the very same Kim Ir-sen, the founder of North Korea, who had died in 1994. He is called Kim Ir-sen in the post-Soviet region, whereas Kim Il-sung, in Europe, US, and the Latin world. So, in connection with Kim Jong-il’s passing, Serzh Sargsyan has in fact condoled with the deceased father of the deceased, Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
