YEREVAN.- Trade turnover between Armenia and Russia reached $1 billion last year increasing by 15.8% as compared to 2010, said Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov.

However, the level of trade turnover does not fully comply with the considerable potential of both countries, he said.

First of all, Zubkov stressed importance of cooperation in energy sector. According to him, the Russian companies are providing Armenia with gas and are actively engaged in the projects in the field of power energy. Joint programs are carried out in the field of hydroelectric power as well.

“Cooperation in the field of atomic energy is one of the priorities. It is in the interests of both Armenia and Russia,” he said.
