YEREVAN. – February 25, 2012, is the 147th birth anniversary of General Andranik Ozanian, a prominent figure of the Armenian fedayin movement.

Ozanian was born in 1865 in Shabin Karahisar (district of present-day Giresun, Turkey). The Armenian people revere him as a national hero. Songs,  novels, and poetry were written about him. General Andranik died in 1927 in Fresno, California. He was buried at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. And after Armenia’s independence, his remains were brought to the capital Yerevan, where they now rest at the Yerablur Military Pantheon.
