YEREVAN. – The president of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, Arsen Ghazaryan, told Haykakan Zhamanak daily that the matter of constructing a new Iran-Armenia natural gas pipeline is discussed, reported the daily.

“[He said:] ‘There already is talk that the second Iran-Armenia gas pipeline shall be built with a larger diameter.’

“To this day, no hint has even been made about such a project, but the president of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen, speaking to us, assured that he participated in several intergovernmental discussions, and the matter on a new Iran-Armenia gas pipeline project was referred to.

“This is noteworthy by the fact that the existing Iran-Armenia gas pipeline is operated in only 20-25 percent of its capacity,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
