YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) members are soon going to convene a party board meeting and nominate incumbent President and RPA Chairman Serge Sargsyan as their candidate for the next Prime Minister, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“They just need to convince the candidate, or to get the candidate’s consent, since still 4 years ago, Sargsyan had stated that after the adoption of constitutional amendments, he will not seek the post of Prime Minister.

“But if the RPA board were to make such a decision, Sargsyan will meet an impasse because it is his vow on the one hand, the [fellow] party members’ decision on the other hand; albeit public interests are always priority from the personal [interests],” wrote Zhamanak.
